turtles, as unfortunately many other animals are endangered. To protect them from a business without controls, has been signed an international convention, the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) , more commonly known as Washington Convention. The ultimate goal is to control the international trade of animals or plants - whether they are living, the dead even as parts / products derived from them (just think of the elephant tusks) - in order to prevent the exploitation and the consequent impoverishment of flora and fauna. The Convention entered into force in Italy in 1980 with the Berne Convention which they have subscribed, as well as Italy, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain , Greece, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Holland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
